Who was Santa Barbara?

According to Christian tradition, there would be born in Nicomedia, near the Sea of Marmara, the daughter of a king named Dioscoro satrap, who locked in a tower. According to other versions Dioscoro Barbara and her daughter lived in Heliopolis, Phoenician. There are differences between the versions of his life: the reason may have been locked to prevent men admire her beauty and seduce or to avoid proselytizing Christian. During an absence of his father, Barbara was converted to Catholicism, and constructed three windows in its tower, symbolizing the Holy Trinity. His father learned the meaning of the symbolism of these windows and angry, wanting to kill her. So Barbara fled and took refuge in a rock miraculously open for her. Trapped despite the miracle, is facing his destiny. His martyrdom was the same as that of St. Vincent Martyr: he was tied to a rack, whipped, torn with iron rakes, placed on a bed of ceramic cutting pieces and burned with irons in fire ... Finally, the king sent Dioscoro the judge, who issued the death penalty by beheading. His father who was decapitated at the peak of a mountain, after which it reached a beam, also giving death.

Antiques

Antiques are usually objects which show some degree of craftsmanship and attention to design as a desktop or one of the first cars. In a consumer society, an antique is above all an object that, because of unique construction and age or for having fallen into disuse, it receives a value greater than the similar and more recent manufacture.

Any historical museum makes a considerable use of antiquities to illustrate historical events and give them a practical context.

In our case we have antiques are donated by the community, in some cases are permanent loan, in addition to exposing muetras of coins from different periods of our national history, and samples of different nationalities mondedas, contributed by people from the community and abroad who visit our village.

Mammoth and cave paintings.

Mammuthus (ru. "very large") in Castilian mammoth is a genus of mammals Proboscidae elephants that existed during the Neogene period, from approximately 4.8 million years ago until 3700 years ago, in the times of the Pliocene, and Pleistocene Holocene. Many species have been described, and the woolly mammoth, the best known of all. Found mammoth fossils in North America, Eurasia and Africa.
Examples of these large animals were found in this community
The cave paintings are prehistoric drawings and sketches in some rocks and caves. The term "rock 'comes from the Latin rupestris, and that of rupes (rock), but is synonymous with original. So in a strict sense, would refer to rock any human activity on walls of caves, covachas, rock shelters, and even cliffs and ravines, and so on. From this aspect, it is virtually impossible to isolate the manifestations of other pictorial representations of prehistoric art as prints, sculptures and petroglyphs engraved on stone by percussion or erosion. To be protected from erosion by the nature of the medium, the paintings have withstood the passing of the centuries.
This is one of the oldest art forms for which a record, because at least there is evidence dating back to 40,000 years old, ie during the last glaciation. Moreover, although the rock painting is essentially a primitive spiritual expression, it can be located in almost all periods of human history and on every continent except Antarctica.
In the mountains of Santa Barbara, on the border with the state of Durango is a cave that houses in its interior paintings which are being lost because the authorities fail to protect the place and the people who come to see the destruction.

We hope you like it .....

MY CHARACTERS.

"Chacho" by Profr. LUIS FERNANDO LÓPEZ GÓMEZ

To remind people today that describe in these notes is to miss the idea of respect, but with the illusion of remembering childhood, for each left indelible mark on me and I think that many people, surprised because I could, I have felt fear, but after a time past, now I remember with admiration, affection and above all with respect.

WHEELS.

We look to walk through the great square, I remember a few steps forward with giant, I am surprised his stature, his jeans front of his hat, his beard, his shoes miners, but all my attention a great rubber wheel (which are extracts from a car tire), and an iron hook, which could play the hook and the wheel. Ran out and he took me in his arms, sat me on her knee high and I started to talk, yet I remember saying to me, but I felt like it, then, leave me standing in front of him and carried away in his view one hand harmless toy, which you may be called "wheels". Lench. From time to time, heard of one lady said it was because he was about to marry and at the last minute, leaving the plant and the weakness of his character by taking this path. At first frightened me, because he saw down the street in the neighborhood of California and I was surprised, then saw the other children, young and old, made mockery of it and then PROFERI great rudeness, threats to act against them but could not because his condition was very drunk and hence its nickname, "the Lencha Borracha.

CAFIUT.

Initially to meet this unique character, I am amazed, yet I was afraid, perhaps, by their dress or appearance. Today I turn to the corner of my memories and then perhaps I understand that. He walked the neighborhoods of the Melchor Ocampo, where he lived in a humble and left quarter, the March 18, the district of Guadeloupe, the September 16, the Santos Degollado, the Clarines, the Chihuahua, Mina Street, the Warrior The Gonzalez Ortega and ASARCO to school. It was a coming and going all afternoon and just his nickname, was due to some homes, stopped and called a cup of coffee but only pronounced: "A Cafiut" and since this was his motto. The singularity of this character was her dress, because every evening was different, an example is that we could do with some pants that he cut so that a deformed left leg shorter than another, a great bag, although dirty, in It may seem at first, apart from not wearing no shirt, shirt less, some mining boots, also cut in uneven, often wear a hat as big Bacin, and topped with a piece of a branch of a tree that had charged to the shoulder and maybe it marked a big step as a private soldier and then began his great walk, accompanied by a group of kids that absorbed, fearful, pranksters and curious followed him from neighborhood to neighborhood. A Don Quixote in the neighborhood, did not hurt anyone, but surprised themselves and outsiders.

UGA UGA.

We were surprised to hear that due to the mountains of our community lived a being that looked like a hermit. At one time invitation to board our beautiful mountains, I never imagined we would pass by where he lived Erasmus, who knew it was called, but the people who gave the nickname because only uttered "Ug" "Ug," when trying to communicate . When passing by the place I took a big scare because it already passed into the night and only heard the clink at the beginning of some old tin cans, and not knowing how to Erasmus, was suddenly, leaving us at Some stunned and did not know whether to run, tirarnos the ground or hide, so look for the first time in their hair and plaster, the dust and grease, barefoot semidescubierto your body because it takes only a few worn trousers and finished off a Small but long beard and large dark eyes that seemed enormous. Passed and then came the surprise of my explanation: When the distance, you hear a knock on the boats, was a sign that Erasmus knew that someone was approaching and thus requested that gifts or food to share, so that return to this path (toward the saw), prepared some food to be left in a solo lived.

DOÑA DOMINGA.

She lived in a unique place located at the foot of the mountain just at the place known as the saw. Your home, something special for curious strangers, for us the simplicity and humility. A large stone, forming a large hole, like a cave was the main base of the house, the children arranged the site is so cute and formed a simple house, who were talking it over 70 years that lived there. How great this beautiful lady, was his treatment, his splendid courtesy and welcome offered by both friends and strangers, because the person passing through the place not Sustrai to see the house and away courtesy of Dona Dominga. Among all higher learning that God gave him a long life of work, in harmony with nature and great lady.

CHU PERIQUITO

. Walking through the streets of our village, we could hear a melody or a child of fashion, but especially for children, voice of an elderly person, who was accompanied by a musical instrument, called a triangle, which he played in trying to accompany in their songs, as well as a large cone of foil as a spokesman for the broadcast his song. Around him, gathered the kids and sang amid shouts and cheers his most famous song "Arre reaching that path, my chu, chu my ...", and for our surprise, imitated the bray of donkeys. Following its melody calling their competitors, the financial contribution of "What is his will." Who dared to say "parakeet Chu, listened as a response: Do not call me like that!, Budgerigars, only animals.

BARO Monárrez.

If there is any person with a disability are luchistas for life, this character would be one of the representative. They say that by accident got a disability, which was no bar to see it excel in amateur competitions that were organized in the village, he was the first to register and always listened to her distinguished voice, "The dark night tended his mantle ..."; find sustenance aseando shoes, selling lottery tickets, newspapers and the taunts of others, always found them to be wrong. This is not extraordinary, but what's unique character was to make friends with everyone and even though in his later years was devoted to running errands and sweeping streets and sidewalks, provided the activity began between three and five o'clock, and especially singing. This character in the four hundred anniversary of the founding of Santa Barbara, for their struggle to succeed, was the subject of a report received at the state level in one of the larger newspaper "El Heraldo de Chihuahua."

Don Angel

I never could have escaped, his voice was not alien to the inhabitants, could be announcing street from a commercial street in any town and shop until the full film role. Was accompanied by a great voice (a kind of funnel plate or cardboard), which further accentuated his thick voice, as he was known as "the Don Angel hoarse." He had a very peculiar as to be announcing their events, the people who listen to him through the streets of a sidewalk to another, they had to do it by the corners, never on the street as it could prevent accidents. Courtesy and discipline were the basis of their work, reaching a far greater age to perform its work.

DON CARMELO.

Among the characters who could well remember to have some resemblance to the preaching of ropavejeros, not objects, but on its way to announce your arrival and his presence: "Change or bottles for money," was heard in the streets of my people and the distance we could see Don Carmelo, with its unique bag casimir, gray and frayed, worn, jeans or a raincoat, under the same conditions, Huarache three holes, or a Resistol straw hat, also ajado and his great hair and white mustache. Always accompanied by a donkey with two huacales by barter, especially in the season of Las Tunas, changing money or bottles, which sold in the deposits. Unique character, because I dared to make mockery of the tunas, received in response, "plugs ..."

DOÑA NACHITA

Person who was able to meet either one hundred years of life, from a humble family, but filled with a tremendous vitality, as his later years he was seen walking the streets of Santa Barbara with a smile and a joke achieved when letting a joy to boys and girls leaving school, afraid to imitate the sound of cats. Lucky mother, that your family stress ball great basketball players but also the winner of the marathon miner who ran San Francisco del Oro to the city of Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, setting a record for the corridor, with Mr. Eleuterio "Tello" Cruz.
